emailz

A personal mailbox assistant

emailz is a single-user application. It reads and organises its owner's own Gmail mailboxes and reports back over a private Discord server. It is not a product, it is not offered to other people, and there is no sign-up.

What it does

emailz is one part of a self-hosted assistant that runs on hardware in its owner's home. Against the mailboxes it is connected to, it:

Who can use it

Nobody but its owner. The application is connected to three mailboxes belonging to one person. There is no public interface, no account creation, and no way for another person to connect a mailbox to it.

What it does with mail

Message data stays on the owner's own hardware, with one exception that is worth stating plainly: to write the daily digest, the sender, subject, and a truncated preview snippet of recent messages are sent to a large language model API for summarising. Full message bodies are never sent, and nothing is sold, published, or shared with anyone else.

The privacy policy sets this out in full, including which Google account permissions are used and why.

Removing its access

The owner can revoke this application's access to any Google account at any time from Google Account permissions. Doing so immediately stops all reading and all triage.
